History

  • With the vision to create Iran’s leading cable manufacturs, entrepreneur Hossein Kolahi purchases 54 hectares of land on the outskirts of the city of Abhar for the establishment of a state-of-the-art manufacturing site. His vision is to see Iran become independent of cable imports for its national projects through the development of a world-class cable manufacturing capability including the production of specialised cables for key economic sectors including Iran’s vast hydrocarbon industry, among others.

    1990

  • Abhar Wire & Cable is officially established and phase one works on its production lines commence.

    1992

  • With the completion of Iran’s most advanced production lines, manufacturing and distribution of AWC’s international quality cables begins.

    1994

  • Abhar Wire & Cable becomes the first domestic cable manufacturer to be qualified for Oil & Gas projects in Iran.

    1996

  • Abhar Wire & Cable expands to the manufacturing of high voltage cables. Then Iranian president Hashemi Rafsangani inaugurates launch of the new production line a fist for Iran.

    1997

  • Abhar Wire & Cable receives it’s first ISO certification from GLC Germany.

    1998

  • Abhar Wire & Cable releases first of Fire Resistant Zero Halogen cables.

    1999

  • Abhar Wire & Cable produces the first domestically made signalling cable for use in Iran’s national rail project as well as Tehran underground.

    2000

  • Abhar Wire & Cable breaks into the world’s largest gas field development project, supplying cables to the phase 1 of the South Pars Gas Field Development Project developed by Total and constructed by Daelim Korea.

    2001

  • Abhar Wire & Cable constructs the most advanced cable testing facility in the Middle East with the capability to carry out tests up to 2800  KV.

    2002

  • Alireza Kolahi along with Cyrus Sherafat assumes the leadership of Abhar Cable following the passing of its founder Mr. Hossein Kolahi.

    2004

  • First 132kV cable in Iran is produced by Abhar Wire & Cable for use in major national projects.

    2005

  • Abhar Wire & Cable supplies its first in international oil and gas projects Oman Refinery Utility project and Jubail Petrochemicals Aromatics Unit Saudi Arabia.

    2008

  • Abhar Wire & Cable becomes the first company in the MENA region and the 11th globally to successfully manufacture and receive international certification for 220 kV XLPE insulated cables.

    2009

  • Abhar Wire & Cable executes its first turn-key high voltage transmission line project and becomes the first company to export HV cables from Iran by executing out the Najibieh Power Plant – Basra East and Basra East – Basra Central 132 kV transmission lines.

    2010

  • Abhar Wire & Cable becomes the largest Iranian cable exporter and receives the national export award.
